Biography

Born in December 1960 and raised in Mexico City, Alberto Saucedo began his career as a self-taught artist, showing notable talent and passion for art from a very young age. At seventeen, he enrolled at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and later attended San Diego City College, where he focused on commercial and interior design. It was there that he gravitated more toward the visual arts and discovered his true passion.

In 1983, he returned to Mexico City, where he developed his personal and unique style under the influence of Latin American sculpture by Francisco Zúñiga and the monumental sculptural work of Fernando Botero. During this time, he had the opportunity to meet both renowned masters of the visual arts and maintained a close relationship with Zúñiga, benefiting from his personal guidance. He also drew inspiration from the dynamic spatial interplay found in the monumental masterpieces of Henry Moore. In this way, sculpture became an essential part of Saucedo’s work, and at a young age he achieved his first significant recognition in this field.

In visual art, Alberto Saucedo is influenced by the freedom of Pablo Picasso, the optical art of Victor Vasarely, and the classicism of Michelangelo, blending these elements in a distinctive way with the colors and graffiti of Mexico City and other places. In painting, unlike in sculpture, he creates a collage of ideas and emotions that lead the viewer to question the interrelationship between matter, spirit, and the cosmos.

Saucedo’s training includes extensive study of art history, incorporating sensual, spiritual, and classical influences, transforming them into a style that is reflected throughout his work and defines him as a versatile and multifaceted artist. His work spans metal, marble, granite, painting, graphic art, and a variety of other materials.
